These days, it’s no longer good enough to simply be a great writer or even a great camera man. Reporters are expected to be a journalistic one-man band. Even newspapers, the most traditional of news sources, have started supplementing online articles with video and multimedia, which is why my Reporting class is delving into the world of mobile journalism.
Over the course of the semester, I’ll be both reporting and posting corresponding video to enhance the stories. As a journalism major with a concentration in print, I’ll be taking on a new experience in using technology and video. Hopefully, by having the camera with me at almost all times, I’ll learn to recognize news wherever I go and truly become a citizen journalist.
